San Francisco Bay Area-based alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), along with other tech professionals, gathered in Santa Clara for the IIT Bay Area Leadership Conference on Saturday, September 16. Attended by over 1,000 people, the annual conference is said to be the largest IIT alumni networking event on the West Coast.

We were excited to return as the Gold Sponsor of the Conference, and have our CEO (and IIT alum) Ayan Mukerji and our CTO Tyson Hartman host two sessions. This year had 15 sessions and over 40 speakers.

Generative AI was a recurring topic during keynotes, lightning talks, fireside chats, and panel discussions. Topics covered included how GenAI is revolutionizing the supply chain; data security in the age of multi-cloud and AI; and generative AI in production and applications for enterprises.

Rathi Murthy, CTO and President of Expedia Product & Technology at Expedia Group, spoke with Ayan Mukerji at the mid-day Keynote Conversation. They discussed the ways generative AI was transforming their customers’ travel journeys.  A key takeaway: “When it comes to AI, there needs to be a guardrail. John Ische, CIO of Apple Leisure Group, and Ravi Nemalikanti, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Abrigo, spoke with Tyson Hartman at the day’s first Fireside Chat. The three of them spoke about how companies should adapt to the disruption and changes brought on by generative AI. A key takeaway: “Regardless of the source of disruption - technology or economy, priorities matter and staying focused on your strategy will help.”
